Most of the Sust ag students have been working on their final project this month. For my final project I am doing Hydroponics. It is a very interesting project because I don’t need dirt to grow it. You need a 5 gallon bucket, around 4 gallons of water, marble balls, a tomato plant, some grow plant mix, bloom plant mix, and a net pot. Get the five gallon bucket and fill it with 4 gallons of water. Get 4 teaspoons of grow mix and mix it with the 4 gallons of water.
You want a plant that is already well grown but not producing tomatoes yet. Remove all the dirt that is in the plant. Fill half of the net pot with marble balls and put the plant with no dirt into the half filled net pot. Then fill the rest of the net pot. Put the lid on the bucket and now you have your hydroponic bucket!
When the plant starts to bloom remove the water and get 4 gallons of water. Mix this with the bloom mix and put the lid on again. By the time you do this, the roots of your plants should look like the picture above. About a week or two later your plant should start producing tomatoes.
